Best of Mendoza

Best of Mendoza 4 days / 3 nights
A luxury tour of the very best of Mendoza.

Enjoy exciting regional cuisine and be introduced to many excellent wines both famous and some that are not yet known in the USA. This four-day tour explores three of Mendoza´s hottest wine regions, Luján de Cuyo, Maipú, and Uco Valley.

You´ll visit traditional and new remarkable wineries, each with its own unique approach to wine-making. You´ll also visit select culture sites and have a chance to soak up the unique history and character of each region.

Day One

Pick up from the airport/hotel.

In the morning, you´ll visit Achaval Ferrer, winery located on the Mendoza riverbank. This is a small Argentine/Italian co-venture winery that produces some of the best wines in Mendoza. Founded only in 1998, Achaval- Ferrer is already established as one of Argentina's benchmark wineries. They specialize in single vineyard Malbecs from prime Mendoza sites.

The next stop will be Decero, a winery located in the heart of Lujan de Cuyo.

Decero, meaning ‘from scratch’, was born of a bare patch of land and a family’s love affair with wine. Winemaking in Thomas Schmidheiny’s family goes back to his grandparents in Switzerland and, just as Napa had inspired his mother Adda in the 1970s, so too did the Agrelo sub-appellation in Mendoza capture the heart and mind of Thomas when traveling over the Andes into Argentina 20 years later.

Here you´ll visit a beautiful, ultra-modern winery which produces highly praised wines. Also, you will admire its breathtaking view of the Andes Mountain Range.

Once we have done our tour and tasting we are going to have an exclusive gourmet lunch at Ruca Malen Winery, enjoying its delicious cuisine as well as a vertical wine tasting. Ruca Malen is a boutique winery at the foot of the Andes near Mendoza. It produces premium wines, mainly Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, from 27 hectares of vineyards. Quality, style and elegance are what owners Jean Pierre Thibaud and Jacques Montalembert have been aiming for since they started in 1998. There you will taste all their wine range, including their top one Kinien.

Optional in the afternoon: City Tour / Transfer to AYLLU Handcraft shop, Mall, etc.

Day Two

You’ll really enjoy this day!  After breakfast we will take you to the Uco Valley, a spectacular place at the foot of the Andean mountain range.

After two hours of scenic driving we will arrive to our first winery: O´ Fournier. The tour starts when you discover the building at a distance, with the mountains as a backdrop all around. Spanish winery owner Jose Manuel Ortega has positioned himself in three of the best wine-producing regions in the world: Mendoza, Argentina; Rioja, Spain; and Maula Valley, Chile. Being from Spain, the winery has focused on making great Argentine Tempranillo, the emblematic Spanish varietal. Although many Argentine wineries are producing their own style of Tempranillo, no other wineries in the region besides O. Fournier have made the grape their central project, believing that Mendoza is a great region to grow Tempranillo grapes and creates an interesting "rustic" taste. After the tasting we will have a delicious gourmet lunch in the winery. Each of the menus is made up of six steps, combining two cooking trends which show the cultures coexisting in the winery at all times: Argentine and Mediterranean-Spanish cultures, perfectly matching with the Urban, Bcrux and Alfa Crux wines.

Our next stop is the famous consortia of vineyards headed by prestigious French partners, including winemaker Michel Rolland: Clos de los Siete.   Rolland consults for more than 100 wineries around the world, but Clos de los Siete is his own: that is, he is one of seven owners of the estate (all of them French), and is the mastermind behind the venture.  The individual owners each have - or will have, when the last winery is completed - his own winery, vineyard land and winemaker, but Rolland consults for all of them, and blends the final wine using varying portions of their individual productions.

After a premium wine tasting we will enjoy a wonderful lunch in the patio gardens.

Drive back to Mendoza with rest of the afternoon free.

Day Three

Today you´ll visit three of Maipú´s top wineries gaining a more thorough appreciation of the different wines made in the region and the distinctive elaboration techniques of each winery.

The first winery we visit is CarinaE, a small French winery run by their owners Brigitte and Philippe. CarinaE produces its own grapes from the vineyards in the first zone of Mendoza . Their business, from the management of the vineyards to bottling, is supervised by Michel Rolland’s   team in Mendoza. Their vineyards are located in the traditional High Area of the Mendoza River. There you will taste the best wines, enjoying the brilliant combination of wine and astrology .

The next winery will be Tempus Alba. This modern winery   combines technology with family-run pride, resulting in some delicious and affordable wines. One of the winery's main goals is to make the best Malbec in Argentina, a lofty goal where Malbec is one of the most popular varietals in Argentina. In search of the best Malbec grapes, the winery is testing and researching 370 vines to find ones that will produce a superior Malbec. As part of the tour, the oenologist will explain every detail of the technology and human effort that go into their uniquely Argentine winemaking process. While enjoying the wines, you´ll look out at the vineyard, olive trees and in the distance, the Andes mountains.

We move on with a twenty-minute drive to Familia Zuccardi for lunch, where we will enjoy a selection of delicious Argentinean meat (goat, veal, pork and lamb). Familia Zuccardi is recognized as an Argentine winery that produces outstanding wines, with a clear commitment to quality and innovation. Their passion for wine is reflected in a culture of hard work shared by more than 700 people. This is a culture that creates products today present in the main markets of the world. After lunch, we´ll take a fantastic tour around the winery, learning about the wine innovations with different processes and grape varieties.

Return to Mendoza around 5.30pm .
