Farm Wine Tour

Caminos de Altamira is a product of rural tourism, located in “ La Consulta”, a little village in the district of San Carlos, Mendoza, Argentina. It`s part of the Uco valley, an oasis in the middle west of the province of Mendoza, irrigated by the Tunuyán river and a great number of smaller streams and channel systems which make the valley a fertil and a pleasant place to live. Its position at 1000 m above sea level at the foot of the Andes not only gives it an outstanding view of the mountains but also soils suitable for the cultivation of high quality grapes.  

This environment consists of both production and landscapes of exceptional importance, where one can experience, along with locals, all kinds of rural activities.  

Small producers have no possibility to maintain their quality of life cultivating just as many as 5 to 10 has. That is why the idea to combine tourism and agriculture was brought to life.  

Caminos de Altamira in essence is the union of the peoples who wish to share their culture with tourists. That is how it has become a product of anthropology, in which the excuse is the land but the interest is its people. A landscape of pure air, colors and aromas where one can enjoy the country life with the time marked by the sun.  

Agricultural activities like irrigation, tying, pruning and above all harvesting cherries, peaches, pears, apples and grapes allow the tourists to take part in the day-to-day country life in this oasis. The activities of the woman in the country life, with her marmalades, kneading of bread or tortitas, aromatic herbs and canned fruit, caring for the animals, etc. give our products a unique taste.  

Farm Tour day includes:  

08.00 am  Pick up from your hotel in Mendoza and we start the journey at the Uco Valley.  

10:00 am  Start of the tour, alternative transport (Coach, Horse or Bicycle) It´s a tour of about 4 kms where we enjoy great views of the Andes Mountains.  

11:15 am  Visit at Los Maitenes, with kneading of bread.  

12:00 pm  Visit at Melocoton, a peach orchard.  

12:45 pm  Visit at Appon Brothers winery, home-made wines.  

1.30   pm  Lunch at Traditional Campsite Camilo.  

3.30   pm  Visit at Wilkanina, handicraft workshop.  

5.00   pm  End of the tour at Altamira´s and return to Mendoza (aprox. 6.30pm.)
