Built in 1890, it possesses the characteristics of the Mendocinean wineries of the time with cane roofs and adobe walls completely restored preserving its identity. The winery has underground caves for the aging of wines in casks and modern technology to reach the standards of quality demanded by the international markets.
ACHAVAL FERRER
Achaval-Ferrer will always be a boutique winery producing only limited quantities of high quality red wines.
A strong bond and shared love for Mendoza's land brought together a group of Argentinean and Italian friends to launch their «wine adventure» in 1998. Santiago Achaval and Manuel Ferrer are the Argentinean part of the team. Roberto Cipresson (winemaker) and Tiziano Silviero are the Italian counterparts and founders of
La Fiorita winery in Montalcino, Tuscany.
ANDELUNA CELLARS
Andeluna winery is located on the feet of the Andes in a
200 hectare estate from Reina Rutini family. Its classical architecture combined with the outstanding landscape of the Andes and Tupungato mountain, contrasts with the high technology of their winemaking. The winery has 1m litres capacity in stainless steel tanks, 1200 oak barrels and about 72000 bottles storage space.
At Andeluna visitors can enjoy a unique dining experience. Andeluna's dining room has a wide table and open kitchen for tasting each step of the process to create outstanding Argentine food and wine. The wine bar invites to discover the secrets of a wine tradition of more than a hundred years.
BELASCO DE BAQUEDANO
This winery belongs to
La Navarra Group. The vocation to discover new sources and deepen the culture of wine brought to Mendoza, Argentina, where he began the project of Baquedano Belasco with the acquisition of
70 acres of vineyards were planted extra early in the last century and that ensures a great field premium. The winery, which specializes in developing high quality malbec, is located in the department of Lujan de Cuyo, in a spectacular setting, just at the foot of the Andes. Family Belasco thus becomes the sixth producer of Spanish wines that sits in the center wine most important in Latin America
BODEGA BENEGAS
Located in Lujan de Cuyo, this old winery belonged to Gladis Alurralde Norton's family, mother of Federico J. Benegas Lynch.
The winery was built in 1901 by Agustín Álvarez, then governor of the Mendoza province. As a building it is one of the few old Mendoza historic relics from the end of the XIXth century. It is an adobe building with a stone cava which provides an excellent place for wine barrels and bottles as the temperatura changes between summer and winter are minimal.

LA AZUL
This small winery of simple design is located on the feet of the Andes in the Uco’s high valley in Tupungato. It is surrounded by mountains and vines and dedicated entirely to fine wines which require the most sophisticated technology.

BODEGA
LA RURAL
Rutini’s family wine tradition started in the XIX century when Fracisco Rutini produced his home made wines in his native city of Ascoli Piceno in Italy. His son Felipe came to Argentina and continue his father’s tradition in Coquimbito, Maipú in the Mendoza province. He planted there the first vines and built a colonial style winery in 1885. He aimed to produce wines of quality over quantity. The winery grew and Felipe continued expanding his vineyards in Maipú and also in Los Corralitos and Medrano zone. This demanded new expansions in the winery including the import of oak barrels from Nancy. The new owners invested in technology and equipment aimed to modernize and refine the style of the wines. The winery counts today with the most complete wine museum of Argentina.
BODEGA RUCA MALEN
The dream of Ruca Malen began in 1998, when Jean Pierre Thibaud left, after 10 years, the presidency of Chandon Cellars Argentina. In an encounter with Jacques Louis of Montalembert they admitted their mutual dream, the one of having its own cellar in Mendoza, that paradise at the foot of the foothills of the Andes. Immediately they came to an agreement, they began to work together in the project of Ruca Malen that would be devoted only to the production of excellent wines, based on the knowledge, in the magnificent earth of Mendoza and mainly in the passion. Months later Ruca Malen produced its first wines, the vintage 1999. From the beginning the work was focused in the quality of the wines. For them, before buying anything, they let a wing of the building of Alta Vista and contacted specialists in the production of wines. Tanks of stainless steel and another series of fundamental machineries were bought for the production. After the fourth crop (2002) the construction of its cellar began. It was this way that in March of 2003, it was possible to receive the vintage for the first time in their own establishment. Ruca Malen produces limited batches of wines coming from exclusive selected vineyards of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Tempranillo. The relationship of climate, soil and grape variety is a vital factor, as the land responds to the quality looked for in each one of the grape varieties. Ruca Malen has
27 hectares of vineyards in Agrelo, but it also uses quality vineyards belonging to small producers with a long tradition. It is always important to consider the human factor as of unquestionable value in the production of good wines.
BODEGA SEPTIMA
Séptima Cellar is located in Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo, its imposing structure stands on a plain surrounded by extensive vineyards. Their proprietors, the Codorniú Group, a prestigious Catalan house, acquired those
306 hectares to build their winery, Séptima. They then made the decision of baptizing the mark of their wines with the name Séptima. In route to the mountain range the building is constructed of regional materials using the old «pircas» system, used by the aboriginal people of the area that consists on heaping stone upon stone. The interior is an enormous rectangle where the process of creation of the wine is organized lineally, it surprises its modernity and functionality.
BODEGA SOTTANO
Don Fioravantti Sottano, from Venneto -Italy-, settled down in Mendoza in 1890. He was a pioneer in the Mendocinan Industry, promoting the agriculture and the industry in the region, planting vineyards to produce wine in his own winery and, later on, exporting it. In that way he motivated others to follow his steps. His son Miguel Sottano, went on with the family business producing
20.000.000 litres of wine per year. Nowadays, encouraged by the pasion that Ricardo Sottano passed on, his sons: Diego, Pablo and Mauricio Sottano Are refurbishing and building the future of the wine based upon their most steady foundations.
BODEGA TAPIZ
Tapiz winery was built in 1999 with wide production areas surrounded by vineyards and framed by the Andes mountains. By the end of 2003 the winery was bought by the Ortiz family, who innovated its concept and created a new focus of winemaking dedicated to highlight the typical taste of the grape variety.
BODEGA SALENTEIN
In the area of Tunuyán, in the high Uco Valley, the wine-making tradition of one of the most important Mendocinean families unites with capital and European technology in the creation of Salentein Cellars. With a unique location, more than
1.200 meters above sea level, surrounded by their properties and literally in the foothills of the Andes, the Cellars Salentein is erected. The cruciform construction is of an unprecedented design. Each one of their four wings constitutes a small cellar that has two sections: the first one –at ground-level- houses the tanks of stainless steel, while the second –underground– is used for the upbringing of the wine in oak barrels, to eight meters below ground-level. The four cellars unite in a central amphitheater and they share the modern division room.
CAP VISTALBA
58 hectares
covered with vines frame Cap Vistalba's winery, posada and lounge as well as the restaurant «
La Bourgogne». The winery's architecture was inspired by creole culture and combines the lastest technology with high respect for the traditional methods and secrets of winemaking.
Carlos Pulenta developed his personal wine project in a family «finca» located in the heart of Vistalba, Luján de Cuyo. This area has been long considered to provide the best «terror» for perfect Malbec wines.
CARINAE
This is a small winery created by Brigitte and Philipe Subra in their Cruz de Piedra vineyards. The winery was built around existing pools and brings together tradition and modern technology.
Its capacity for
260.000 litres focuses exclusively on high quality wines made from Malbec, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon from 80 year-old vineyards located in Perdriel, Luján de Cuyo and Cruz de Piedra. Michel Rolland's team in Mendoza contributes expereinces to Carinae to achieve complex and elegant tastes in their wines.
CATENA ZAPATA
In the year 1902, Nicola Catena, an Italian immigrant, planted her first vineyards in Mendoza, Argentina. The cellar has remained in hands of the Catena family for three generations. In the last two decades, the proprietor of the cellar, Nicolás Catena Zapata has studied the different microclimates and terrains of the Mendocinean vinicultural region, to determine the best areas to plant Malbec, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Today, Nicolás Catena Zapata is recognized as the pioneer of the production of wines of quality in Mendoza. In the year 2001 they inaugurated their new cellar, Catena Zapata, inspired by Mayan architecture. The Cellar Catena Zapata is located in the area of Agrelo, in Mendoza at 950m above sea level.
DOLIUM
«Dolium» in Latin means «two-handled jar», the vessels that the old Romans used to conserve wines. Following the Roman tradition of maintaining the wine underground for the perfect conditions, Dolium is the first totally underground Argentinean cellar that combines the old traditions with modern technology. This new and small cellar, with its interesting cubic structure stands hidden amid the vineyards. Its visible structures present a minimalist image, ordered and precise. Dolium was born with the highest concept of international quality, but at the same time it maintains the personality of the land in which it stands, a property of
19 hectares located in Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo.
DOMAINE ST
DIEGO
From 1988 Rosalía E. Pereyra and Angel A. Mendoza with their three children, Juan Manuel, Lucas Nicolás and María Laura began the design of a small family wine business. The main objective has been the bottling and sale of a limited number of wines from its own vineyard. The domain is located in a privileged plot of land near Lunlunta, in the district of Maipú: a wine-producing district with more than 300 years of Christian history. A charming vine-growing landscape to enjoy in the four seasons of the year, with an old renovated cellar where they «conserve the past for a better future».
DOMINIO DEL PLATA
The cellar was built in the year
2001, in the center of the district of Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo. Surrounded of
21 hectares of vineyards planted with the varieties Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Dominio del Plata possesses a unique and simple design, thought out for the production of unique wines. This cellar is a project of Susana Balbo and Pedro Marchevsky, elaborated on three pillars: wine-making of precision, suitability in the production of wines, and passion. Taking care of all the details allows them to reach the highest levels of quality and to distinguish this bodega from the other Mendocinean cellars. Dominio del Plata is the result of the deep knowledge and experience of the family that has driven the creation of high quality wines for decades and applied advanced technology in the production of the grape and of the wine.
DOÑA PAULA
Founded in 1997, Viña Doña Paula opened her doors under the concept of offering new world wines of ultra premium quality, being one of the few Argentinean wine-making businesses devised and heading since her birth to the conquest of export markets. Through its dedication in the handling of more than 700 of its own vineyards it assures the obtaining of top quality grapes. An infrastructure of cutting-edge technology allows the team of enologists to create an identity and unique style, based on the characteristics that the lands of Ugarteche, Luján de Cuyo, and Tupungato, can offer.
FAMILIA ZUCCARDI
The cellar Familia Zuccardi was founded in 1963 by the engineer Alberto Zuccardi who began to implant vines in uncultured lands of the district of Maipú. The current cellar, located in Fray Luis Beltrán,Maipú, was constructed in 1968 and it is today a boast of high technology. Since 1992 Familia Zuccardi has exported the fruits of its labours to demanding international markets, becoming today one from the most successful Argentinean cellars at a world class. Their vineyards, located in diverse areas of the province of Mendoza, are recognized to be a true «botanical garden of wine». Besides finding the traditional grape varieties there, we find non conventional stocks in the experimentation stage.
FINCA DECERO
Winery Decero belongs to the Schmidheiny family of Swiss origin. This project began in 2000 when Thomas Schmidheiny decided to venture into the Argentine wine industry, more specifically in Mendoza and complete their development Jan. him wine world. At that time you had a winery in Napa Valley, California (CAVAISON) and another in Mc.Laren Valley, Austria (CHAPEL HILL).
After an intensive survey of the land area chose High Agrelo considering with the best conditions for growing grapes of high quality wine.
The cellar was built to produce premium wines. Under the concept of Estate Wines, Decero produces its wines with grapes from their own vineyards, allowing under strict control all the processes and stages of winemaking.
FINCA FLICHMAN
The beginnings of the cellar go back to 1873, when the first vineyards and the cellar settle down in the Barrancas region of Maipú, district of Mendoza. In 1910 the cellar was reinaugurated for its founders as Finca Flichman, taking the last name of the family. One of their members, Sami Flichman, cultivated the first vineyards in a hollow by the banks of the Mendoza River. 1926 saw the birth of Sami´s son Isaac, who undertook, years later, enological studies in France, giving the birth as a result in 1947 of the mark «Caballero de
La Cepa» considered the first fine Argentinean wine. Finally that year, the local wine industry attracted the interest of foreign investors and the cellar was acquired by the group Sogrape, one of the biggest family wine-producing companies in Portugal. They is known world-wide for their Mateus wine brand and their port wine brands Ferreira, Offley and Sandeman. Immediately a stage of strong investments began in Finca Flichman, with the objective of consolidating their leadership in the production of wines of the highest quality, of Argentinean character, dedicated to the world consumption. The development of the exports allowed Finca Flichman to be positioned as one of the main exporters of Argentinean fine wines. A consequence of this incursion into the international market, was the obtaining of numerous prizes in the most important international competitions of fine wines. Their products are exported to more than 30 countries, including the United Kingdom, Brazil, Denmark, United States, Germany, Ireland and Canada.
LUIGI BOSCA
The cellar that today produces the Luigi Bosca wines was founded in 1901 by Leoncio Arizu, a Spanish citizen of Navarrese, who resided in Mendoza in 1890. The chosen place to install it was the Valley of Vistalba, in the district of Luján de Cuyo, the area that has achieved the first Controlled Denomination of Origin of America for its characteristics. «Vistalba», «
La Puntilla», «Carrodilla» y «El Paraíso» are the four vineyards of the cellar that add more than
400 hectares and where the grapes produce wines which have earned numerous distinctions in the most important fairs in the world. Today it belongs one hundred percent to the family and it is directed by the third generation, headed by the engineer Alberto Arizu, the graduate Roberto Arizu, and Raúl Arizu.
LURTON
The family Lurton has maintained a wine-making culture in Burdeos, France, for more than four generations. Jacques and François have produced wine in six countries: Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Australia, France and Spain. In 1992, the Lurton brothers arrived in Argentina, with the purpose of advising to important national cellars. Years later, they acquired
220 hectares in the province of Mendoza, distributed among Finca Los Chacayes in the High Uco Valley, Vista Flores, Tunuyán and Finca Barrancas, Maipú. In 1998, J&F Lurton began to produce wines in its own cellar with the facilities of the last generation. From then on they produced and marketed wines exclusively for export. In the cellar a family style is perceived that recalls the French cellars.
MELIPAL
Melipal is a modern winery founded in 2003 by the family Aristi. The project is the result of perseverance and enthusiasm, coupled with a passion to be done, key elements for a perfect meeting between the vineyard, the region and men achieve its ultimate expression in the wine.
Located in the exclusive zone Agrelo has a bold architecture that integrates the landscape. Surrounded by an environment of water bodies, willows, ditches and vineyards, with a stunning view of the Andes. The building features a reception area for tourism, tasting room, champagne and a small exclusive restaurant. It currently has 780,000 lts. Capacity in stainless steel tanks and oak barrels.
The winery produces only high-end wines based on the varietal malbec from their own two farms, Las Nazarenas, malbec vineyards with more than 85 years of winemaking heritage insistituible and farm Melipal, younger vineyards where the cave.
MENDEL
Mendel Winery embodies the union of Roberto de
la Mota -one of Argentina’s most respected and experienced winemakers- with an established Argentine family. Together they are dedicated to producing wines of unquestionable superior quality expressing the quality and character of our very old Malbec and Cabernet vineyards in Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina.
They choose the best lots from our almost 80-year-old vineyards, paying rigorous attention to every detail of the artisan winemaking process, from carefully sorting bunches to fermentation in small tanks to aging in the finest French oak. Ancient vineyards, passionate people, experience and friendship are blended to create their remarkable wines.
MONTEVIEJO
The project Monteviejo, became a reality in the year 2002, it was created by seven French investors linked to the industry of elegant wine and their mentor Michel Rolland. In that year the cellar, of innovative design, began to produce excellent grapes of high enological quality, from 107 there is already of a total of 284 of vineyards located, as is the cellar, in the district of Tunuyán. With a surface covered with 8 thousand square meters, the cellar was built in three floors, specially designed so that the fermentation is carried out taking advantage of the force of gravity, without mobilizing the wine by means of pumps, the movement of the casks is even carried out with elevators.
NAVARRO CORREAS
The history of this traditional cellar goes back to 1798, when Don Juan de Dios Correas planted his first vineyards in the Mendocinean earth. From the mid 1800s, and during one century, the family sold its grapes and wines to other producers. In 1974, Don Edmundo Navarro Correas decided to begin producing wines under his own name, and together with his uncle Julián Correas, a born innovative manager, they undertook this new enterprise, being able in this way to become one of the most noted cellars in Argentina. Today the commercialization of the wines Navarro Correas is in the charge of Cinba Inc. This cellar, located in Maipú, produces wines under an approach of maximum quality in each stage of production, from the handling of the vineyard and the areas agricultural ecology, to the techniques used by the enologists, of great experience in Argentina and the United States.
NIETO SENETINER
The history of cellars Nieto Senetiner, goes back to the beginning of last century. Italian immigrants with Mendocinean roots founded the establishment in
1905, in Carrodilla, Luján de Cuyo. In 1969 the land and cellars were bought by the families Nieto and Senetiner, who enlarged the facilities and began a new stage of growth. In 1998 the cellar was acquired by the family Pérez Companc, founder of the Pérez Companc Family Group. Their establishments were enlarged and the growth of the company began. A pioneer in the posadaovation of wine-making processes and activities, the company continues to be faithful to its history and its style. At the moment even with the leading technology for the production of wines of high quality, they have not modified the fundamental spirit and handmade nature of their products.
NORTON
At the end of the 19th Century the Englishman Edmund Norton married the Mendocinean Juana Suárez. Their father-in-law had lands in Perdriel, Luján de Cuyo, on which the British rail engineer planted his first vines and he became the owner of the winery. In 1989 Norton Cellars was acquired by the Austrian manager Gernot Langes-Swarowski. The establishment is CONFORMED BY a group of buildings: the oldest, the ancestral house and the neighbouring works, date back to
1895. In 1960 new wings were built and in 1997 the group was structured in functional form and they installed «the wine bar», built with stones of Villavicencio, raw leather, copper surfaces and typical materials of the region. The view of the mountain range, with vineyards in the foreground, is of an extraordinary beauty.
O FOURNIER
This winery has the latest technology for its
600.000 litres production. It has stainless steel and French oak barrels covering from 6.500 to
25.000 litres capacity distributed in an intelligent design that allows production to work mostly through gravity, thus minimising the use of pumps.
The underground cava can hold up to 2.800 oak barrels with constant temperature and humidity. The wines' names «
Λ
Crux» and «
β
Crux» came up from the South Cross star constellation, visible only in the southern hemisphere. The ostrich on the wine label suggests union between skies and earth as Mocovi native indians from Argentina draw in the caves they inhabited and as they passed on their legends and stories from parents to children.
OTERO RAMOS
Otero Ramos winery is a project which Manuel Otero Ramos, a highly experienced businessman in the real state area, has matured for many years. This is the result of years of hard work, decades of experience in the winery management, the passion for the culture of wine and his own know-how in oenological practices.
Since before the 80’s, Manuel Otero has been involved in different vitivinicultural projects, and has elaborated excellent wines which were exported to Canada, USA and UK. Today he feels the pride of carrying out his own family project.
Otero Ramos Family winery joins a Spanish style architecture with great Roman round archs, rowlock, colonnade and capital which create a venue of great beauty with an incomparable view of the Plata mountain range, the presence of the Tupungato hill and the Andean Mountain range. An underground cellar was specially designed for oak barrel and bottle storage.
PULENTA ESTATE
Located in Alto Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo, this winery belongs to the Pulenta brothers Eduardo and Hugo. Their Italian immigrant ancestors where winemakers that have passed their tradition and knowledge through generations. Eduardo is the only enologist of his family’s third generation. Along with Hugo, they created this winery taking into account a serious commitment to quality and a thoughtful approach to nature.
The winery has a modern and simple design, surrounded by
135 hectares of high quality vines. Each grape variety has achieved its high quality and delicate balance through the combination of dedicated work and high technology. The red wines, Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Gran Corte (50-50 Malbec – Cabernet Sauvignon) and the white ones, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay are well appreciated by wine lovers.
ROSELL BOHER
The project Rosell Boher was conceived by a group of professionals, of deep Mendocinean roots in 1996 to recover the handmade production of sparkling wine produced with the method «Champenoise» or Traditional. In 1999 the centennial facilities were acquired, located in Chacras de Coria, of the cellar founded in 1900 by Bernardo Martínez (grandfather of Alejandro Martínez Rosell). The construction, carried out half in adobe and half with bricks designed to withstand earthquakes, had been conserved under perfect conditions, thanks to the vision of the immigrant founders. After a series of adaptations, reformations and the incorporation of new technology, Rosell Boher has seen the arrival of the new millennium, an ideal cellar for the rested fermentation of its sparkling wine. From then on, without hurry, nor subtracting time from their art, the team directed by Alejandro Martínez Rosell continues making the effort day by day to reach the highest standards in sparkling wine.
TAPAUS
The first thing that gets the attention in the Cellar Tapaus, inaugurated in May of 2004, is their modern facade decorated with stones, wood, large windows and a star of five tips, visible you enter the main hall door that is synonymous of ethics and premium quality in the world of the distillation. This hand-built winery located in Lunlunta, district of Maipú, possesses a low production: 15.000 bottles annually that contain the magic of the gin, the anisette, the grapa and fruit liquors produced with a wine base. In Tapaus, which means in the Huarpe language «hidden treasure», the facilities are decorated in a minimalist style, taking advantage of the fine materials of the area, such as old oak presses, reminiscent of those well-known Mendocinean vineyards.
TEMPUS ALBA
Tempus Alba winery is located in Coquimbito, just 30 minutes away from Mendoza city. The drive to the winery is in itself pleasant. The ever changing colours an shapes of the Andes harmonize with the typical rural landscape of this area full of sprawling fields with colourful vegetables, olive and almond trees as well as vineyards.
Once in the winery, the winemaker as well as other people involved in the process of creating Tempus Alba wines will explain in a professional but passionate language all the details related with the winemaking process. The wine tasting at the end of the visit will prove a seducing experience.
TERRAZAS DE LOS ANDES
In Perdriel, heart of the first Mendocinean area, is the attractive winery of the group Chandon, Terrazas de los Andes. To produce their wines, Terrazas recovered an old winery property of Sotero Arizu, one of the pioneers of the Argentinean wine production. Of the old building of Spanish style, original elements were preserved, from the end of the 19th century, reconditioned for their use. Remodeled from the foundations, the winery harbors modern equipment, and it represents the perfect synthesis between the necessities of the present and the conservation of a centennial tradition. The wines of Terrazas de los Andes are produced with vines planted at different heights «terraces» of the mountain, and they are distinguished by their balance between intensity and elegance.
VIÑA AMALIA
At the end of 1997, after their sale of Santa Ana Cellar, Hugo Basso and their children, Hugo, Carlos and Octavio, bought a small winery in Carrodilla, near the city of Mendoza, in order to produce their own wines. The winery was built in the 1930s, and it operated up to 1965, then it remained abandoned, until the Basso family decided to buy it and to remodel it. The grapes that they use come from their own vineyard, acquired in 1990. This small winery of old design is dedicated solely to the limited production of wines of high quality.
